Welcome to the historic Mercury theatre in Auckland. The theatre was originally built in 1910 as New Zealand’s first purpose built picture and performing arts theatre and at that time it was called The King’s Theatre, the grand opening was the 28th November 1910. Over the past ten years a considerable amount of work has been done to restore it to its former glory, to get an idea just have a look at the pictures in the photo gallery.

More recently all the seats have been replaced with larger more comfortable seating in both the main auditorium and the upper theatre. Also all the old rigging has replaced with more up to date equipment and the stage has been enlarged. Should you wish to view the theatre at any time with a view to hire please contact me and I’ll be happy to show you around.
